MEET RAILWAYMAN INNOCENT LUKA AJIJI, PRESIDENT-GENERAL OF NUR

Innocent Luka Ajiji has never allowed his successes in life to get into his head. Despite rising to the position of President - General of Nigerian Union of Railways and holding various offices at the international level of trade unionism, he has remained his very unassuming self. He is still that son and community boy to many, including those he caters for.

This president of NUR has recorded a number feats since he took over the presidency of the union following the retirement of his predecessor in 2018. One of the qualities he has going for him is his leadership style of carrying workers along and giving international training opportunities which he should have kept to himself to other leaders and members of NUR. You will know more about Innocent in some subsequent reports.

But of course, Comrade Ajiji's good deeds are not hidden. That is why he keeps getting recognition from various bodies.Only last Monday October 5, 2020, the Northern Youth Association of Nigeria awarded him the recognition of Jarman Matasan Arewa, which means Icon of Nation Building

Electronics ticketing system was recently launched for operations in the Nigerian Railway Corporation, NRC, operators of the  Abuja-Kaduna Train Service. LAGOS-IBADAN FAST SPEED TRAIN NOW FOUR TRIPS DAILY

The frequency of the Lagos - Ibadan passenger rain service shall increase from one  to two round trips per day from Monday, June 14, 2021. A release from the public relations department of Nigerian Railway Corporation also showed that the train shall not be originating from Obafemi Awolowo Station, Moniya-Ibadan only but also from theMobolaji Johnson Station, Alagomeji-Lagos.  What this means is that there will be morning and evening trips from both ends.  The scheduled departure time for the morning trips from Mondays to Fridays is 8.00 am while the departure time for the evening trip is 4.00 pm.   There is a slight difference in the week end trips schedule. WARRI - ITAKPE TRAIN COMMENCES: PATRONAGE FAST BUILDING UP

Commercial passenger train service on the Warri - Itakpe Central Railway Line finally commenced operations yesterday Monday January 4, 2021. Although patronage for the first day was low, the turn out today indicates that the train is going to be the reliable means of transportation along that axis for Abuja bound passengers. " This is a big New Year gift to us. No more suffering and long hours of looking for transport on the road, just to return to Abuja" An excited passenger chirped.  "It is a very comfortable and stress free ride.
